what's going on? i'm new here, obviously. i have a silver 2001 1.8t quattro stock. i bought it in september and really haven't gotten around to doing much to it yet, but want to start soon by adding a chip, intake and exhaust. i'll have a pic to post soon.

take care.

Sounds good. What were you planning on doing with the intake? Don't spend much money on it because the stock one is very effective, I just did the airbox mod and it works great.

i was going to do the airbox as well. what did you end up spending on that?

i figure i can put about 500 in for a chip and about 800 for an exhaust and it will be pretty quick.

it's got the rs4 type 17" wheels and the sport suspension, so it rides pretty well. btw, are those rs4 wheels or just something they stuck on a4s that year? they look pretty sweet.

any other tips on some not so expensive mods? i'd like to get it lowered and tinted eventually too, but don't really have the funds right now.

I spent a total of $5 on the airbox mod, $.79 for a foot of screen and then $4 for double sided molding tape. A chip will be about $500 but then you will need to upgrade your DV and that will be about another $100. As far as the exhaust goes you should be able to get it for more like $650 rather than $800.

Another good cheap mod is to blackout the chrome part around your grill. It looks a lot better and it's easy to do. It didn't cost me anything because I already had primer and black paint but it should run you no more than $10. Good luck.
