Default new here... is this a good deal?!

Hey all,
New member here form the Seattle area. I own a 4runner right now and am looking at getting an S4 so I can have fun driving fast. I'll still use my 4runner for offroading.
Anyways, I have a question for you guys. A family member is selling his 2001 S4 (115k, 6spd, white pearl). KBB for the car is about 8k and he's offering it for less than half. Timingbelt/water pump already done at <100k. It has one owner and has been well cared for it's whole life - it's nice to ACTUALLY know the history (totally stock, not track time etc etc) .Anyways, the problem is it still has the stock original turbos. The reality of it is the turbos and clutch needing to be replaced within the next 10k. I'm used to my 4runner (low maintenance and I can do the work), but I'd be going to the opposite. Two questions: has anyone replaced turbos (and/or clutch) as a DIY? (like this: http://www.vaglinks.com/Docs/Audi/B5...cement_DIY.pdf) any insights? The good thing is I'll have 2 cars so I can leave the S4 out of commission for a while. Second and most importantly, should I get it?!

Thanks for your input! I look forward to becoming an active member of these forums after I find a good car = )

So you said 1/2? He's selling an S4 for 4k? Buy it! If nothing else buy it and resell it for profit! And the turbos and very well still be good! No need to replace until you know they are bad!
