Funny thing happened on the way to the bank!! I was out looking for a $5-8K run-around sedan as, per my sig, I have too many cars already, but wanted a grocery-getter other than a station wagon. One of the brokers showed me what I was looking for then pointed out a nice A8 he also had.

Got me thinking about such a car. Went online, and somehow came across this '01 S8, 92K miles (I know, lots of miles), but at a price I could not pass up. Been driving it all afternoon and evening. LOVE IT!!!!

I'm a retired type, both from the US Army and private industry. Most of my military career was spent in Special Forces, Special Ops and Infantry. My corporate career was finance.

I recently sold a '93 RX-7 that I had mod'd to about 400 hp, and bought a 911 Turbo with 424 hp and AWD. I also have a '99 Carrera 2 that is for sale. The wagon is my dog hauler, and the motorcycle my mind clearer. I like fast toys, what can I say.

Hope to learn a lot here about a car I know about next to nothing about.

Hmmm..... That doesn't sound like a great deal. For that kind of money you could buy a 2001 S4 with 30k miles, and put 2 k04 turbos on it, bringing it up to ~450 hp.

 

I like it. i think its classy yet sporty like the M5

 

Justnomen, I have a 911 Turbo that gives me all the hp I need. The motorcycle ain't bad either. I was looking for a sedan, a little less sedan than this, but a sedan. I'm not familiar with the S8 market, but didn't see anything listed on AutoTrader or Cars.com near this price. For the $, I had to jump on it,
