Hi Guys

I'm Dave from Leeds in the UK. I just joined up after buying a '97 A3 1.8T yesterday in Azure Blue, loving it so far and not as thirsty on fuel as i imagined

I've got a minor problem with it as the trader i bought it from had replaced the battery recently and the radio had lost its security code. He offered to get it decoded for me if i could wait til monday but i needed to take the car there and then as i needed something to drive to a metallica gig last night (which rocked btw )

Can anyone get the code for me? Franklin Audi's service department isnt open today and i cant cope driving without music - Plus i'm sure they would charge me a fortune too!

It's an Audi "Concert Nav" tape deck (6CD and sub in boot area) which seems to be a blaupunkt model according to the stickers. Serial code is AUZ1Z3V3371763

If someone could help i would really appreciate it!

Thanks!

Welcome to the forums!

Unfortunately, only the dealer can do this for you. Although your car should come with the manual that actually has the code somewhere attached to it (mine came with a separate booklet for the headunit and there is a credit card sized part with the code).

I'm not too sure about this one but apparently some cars have those codes inside the trunk next to where the spare tire is. Again, I am not certain about the A3 since I have an A4.

Anyway, good luck with those codes. Sorry I wasn't too much of a help.

I have the leather audi wallet with all the manuals including the audi concert one. Inside the front cover there is a space where the card has been torn out (it has perforated edges) and next to the bit thats been torn out it says "please remove this card and keep it somewhere safe, not in your vehicle"

Obviously a previous owner did this but didnt put the card back when they sold the vehicle on

Tried one of the £2 decoder software packs off ebay but the VW/Audi one only does AUZ1Z4XXXXXXX serials. Oh well, was worth a shot at £2

Going to call an independent car audio company locally who do decoding before i go down the main dealer route!!!

I believe the dealer will not charge you an arm and a leg just for the code (at least not in the States).

You can call them first and ask though.

Once again, good luck!

Took it to the independent car audio place. decoded it for £10!!

Audi estimated £50-£60. screw that!

Sounds good with the extra speaker in the boot too under the changer
