Hey, I'm new here and to the audi world. I picked up my 02 a4 1.8t just about two months ago, been kinda beating it around to see how reliable it is and turns out not at all. The waterpump was just replaced with a full tune up before purchase and the water pump took a dump on me. I was a hour or so from home and decided I'm gna try to drive with it over heating and stop every couple towns to let it cool. Just about got home and the head gasket blew. Its been sitting for about a week now because I'm not too sure on these little crammed up motors. I'm used to small blocks. But my questions are where can I get larger cams since its gna be apart, because I've found only one brand being schrick, and they are quite expensive. And I also want exhaust, but every 1.8 I've heard sounds like garbage being raspy and ricey. I want a deep sound. Any suggestions for either?

 

Try Milltek (or Milltech) or MTM if you can find one, for your exhaust.

 

Hmm stage 4 seems huge lots of head work for that. But big improvements. Do you know the website I could get the kit off of?

 

Mine was a "factory" job. It was all done by MTM straight after the car rolled off the production line. I am aware of different heads for the B5 model A4, a small port and a large port head. Not sure about the part number or coding ref for them. Mine is suppose to have the large port head, but i am not sure whether any port/polishing work was done to it? I have done some research for my car but not able to find out much. Not many around in the world with this configuration.

I have tried looking on the MTM website but no info on them as my car is now 14 years old.
