Default 400 hp

So my previous cars have all been american muscle i have had a few stangs and worked on my dads old charger (71 for those wondering)but i got a sweet deal on a b6 a4 1.8t picked it up for 8500 with 92000but its really lame power wise. What turbo would you guys recommend to get up in the 400 hp range.I realizes rods have to be changed so im probably just going to doa complete overhaul on the block, but injector wise a was thinking 630cc with a cast manifold forged internals and polished head.Im also at a loss for some software is there a piggyback unit i can purchase or is it gonna be a brandy new stand alone that i will need. any advice would help.

for 400+ i would go with a gt35. for software i dont belive there is a chip for that so you'll probably want to go with a stand alone. 034 motorsports makes a good one. i don't think you would be able to get away with a piggy back but im not sure

GT35? **** that'll put him in the 600+ hp range (all decked out) but with a completely unusable power band!

Your better off with a full GT2871R kit with Chris Tapps tune and water injection.. You'll have a completely streetable tune, Lots of power, and even more with race gas.. Pump gas should put you right at 400 hp crank with lots of boost.. and when you want to turn it down for the street, you'll be at 300-275, and still be making butloads of power, and keeping your internals in tact, but with a MUCH more usable power band than a GT35...

Also consider going to 2.0L when you upgrade, That'll net you a good deal of HP.. (think 35+)

Chris Tapp is a person, and he is famous for the tune he makes for the GT2871R

Heck He might have meant AWHP, but most people who say "HP" refer to crank, in my opinion.

and 600 hp isnt non-streetable. maybe if he is FWD but on awd it shouldn't be a problem. just make sure you have good tires. I have a frieand with a 650 hp evo and he has no problems hooking it up

All you need is a atp hardware kit with a gt30r (gt3076r) from atpturbo.com.
630cc seimans injectors from usrallyteam.com
and a 630cc file from unitronic.

This will get you to 400whp easy and then some. 20+ psi will come in just after 4k and will hold to 8k rpms. This will make far more power than a gt2871r can dream of and be far more streetable than a gt35r will ever be. Also you wont really need to do any headwork except for maybe some cams and swap to a AEB big port head (that is if you want to). As for the block, all you need is some Integrated Engineering Rods and reuse the stock pistons (both will hold 600whp easy). This setup has seen 400whp with just a chip tune and 500whp with a full standalone.
