I just picked up an RS6 that had been in a street flood and needs a transmission ECU. Actually am not real sure what it is. It's a 2001 RS6 according to the VIN, but its Naturally aspirated, so I'm not sure if it is technically a S6 or an RS6. It says RS6 on everything but they all had twin turbos to my knowledge. Its a tiptronic 4.2 and I was wondering if there are some good slavage yards here in the Northest to help me get some Audi parts. Thanks a lot for your help!

I figured out what the car was at least. It had been stolen and stripped in NY. Then someone put it back together with an RS6 donor car because it is all RS6 (brakes/susp./interior/facia) except for the engine and transmission
But it started life ans a normal old A6 4.2/Tiptronic. Hopefully that will be all it needs to get going. I'll probably be posting back. Thanks again for the help!

Another thing that would have helped you realize it wasn't and RS6 is they didn't make them in America until 2003, but good luck fixing that thing, take care of it man.

 

sounds like you need an ecu from a regular 4.2....I would go to a dealer first just for one reason-possible VIN # split with programming. Make sure you have the VIN#, production date and if possible the transmission serial # so you get the right ECU. The dealer can look it up for you, tell you the proper ecu to get, then run away because it will be too expensive and get it somewheres else...lol
