Default question on insurance responsibility

Two months ago I had my 2005 4.2 Allroad in for repair at my dealer Shields Motors, in State College,PA.
While at the dealer the wheels and tires were stolen off the car one night and a police report was filed. The dealer tells me 7 weeks later to turn the $2300.00 loss into my insurance company. Audi Customer Service says this is a dealer issue and cannot help. Does it seem strange to anyone else that the dealer would not be liable? Over numerous conversations the issue of having a deductible on their policy was brought up. I personally feel it entirely unfair to hold my insurance company responsible for this loss. I also find it surprising that Audi would not take a stronger stand upholding the image of their representatives and reinforcing the feeling that the investment in your Audi is safe when in your dealers care.

Tell the dealer to report it to THEIR insurance company.

IANAL, but the car was in their care, it's their problem. Have a lawyer friend (I'm sure you have one, everyone does) send them a little love note. I'm sure they will pay

Def on the dealer, car was in their possession, their responsibility. Don't let them tell you otherwise.

The saga of my problems with Shields Motors, State College, PA, continues. They still refuse to replace or pay me for the wheels and tires stolen off my 2005 4.2 Allroad while at their dealership. They say it is no different than if I parked at Walmart or a shopping center. Can you buy an Audi at Walmart? My insurance agent now has this issue. He assures me their attorneys will be sueing. It is a shame this is happening. Ever wonder why our insurance rates are so high? I'm sure lawsuits like this add to the costs.

Interesting, thanks for the update. So they basically refuse because they don't want to pay their deductible? I would definitely let others in your area know about this, find local forums.. go to www.audiworld.com and go to the regional forums. Anyway, good luck with it all and please share any more updates.
