Sooo my friends and I go into Olde City (Philadelphia) for our friends bday...2:00 am comes around and my friend goes to get his Mitsu Evo 8 from the Valet and they say...it is gonna be about 30 minutes..so I go pick up my car from a local parking garage and head home. About 10 minutes later my buddy calls me and tells me the valet has crashed his car. My friends were picked up by the valet manager and said there was an issue, so they took them to the scene of the accident. Appearantly the valet took my friends evo on a joy ride and hit a tree (bark imbedded into the side of his car) . The whole drivers side of the car was owned and the rear wheels cracked (aftermarket advans). Clutch is burnt to **** as well.

I have some pictures on my phone, I'll try and post up tomorrow...

Lesson learned, don't valet your car.

Well I'm assuming that company's gonna have hell to pay now. I don't think you sign anything that says they aren't responsible. That's why it's good to have a chip that has programs like Valet Mode in ur car.

I took a couple law course about 2 years ago and what I really remember was my professor telling me to never valet my car because they are not responsible for certain things, I am pretty sure if they mangle your car you are not responsible...we will see how the judicial system decides on that, and so far the law has escorted the valet driver to the police station... +1 our side.

I'm sorry, but the valet driver would not have made it to the police station if it was my car. The emergency room would even be a stretch.

The thing that sucks is he might get the money to fix the car but in the end he will have a repaired but wrecked car and the value will drop on it. They will only be liable for the cost of the damage, he would have been better off if it was totaled.

You may find that the threat of a lawsuit is enough to get reimbursed for the car. Happened to a Z guy I know. He took his car to the dealer to have some stuff done to satisfy an upcoming buyer, and they had one of their brand-new 18 year old mechanics go out for a "road test". The car was a stage 4 twin turbo, which in Z-speak means roughly 430hp, and the kid wiped out trying a 30mph turn at close to 60 with a light dusting of snow on the road. Wolf (the car's owner) had de-modded the car from a stage 12 to a stage 4, prepping to sell the car, but there was a ton of cosmetic bodywork and interior work done to the car still.

In short, his lawyer called the dealership the next day and said he would accept $16k for the car to forget it happened, and not a penny less, or they'd be in court. The dealership blinked first, and paid up. Your friend may be able to succeed in a similar way.

Yeah, it happened a few years back - he ended up settling with the dealership and they gave him the $16k rather than face the bad rap a trial would've given them. They did fire the mechanic as well. I think they decided it was better to face the music rather than risk the publicity that Wolf assured them they'd get
