ahh im so glad i own an audi. i feel sorry for the future owners of those cars. so friking ugly. definitly a downgrade

 

I don't understand why people don't get this?

It is a bare bones economy car with rally-bred DNA/technology. It is meant to perform and thats it. Which it does.
I have a 2005 STi and I do agree that I prefer that design. The old bugeye was fugly IMHO and the new 2006 is not much better.

By the way, my STi will destroy the new RS4 anywhere below 100mph, then the RS4 will obviously start to dominate. It is slightly modded though but I would put a stock STi to edge out a stock RS4 on a track, especially if it was tight and technical.

 

It's heritage.

 

i liked the look of the first gen STi...they keep getting uglier every year...now they are just horrible

 

I tend to agree that they are becoming a little over styled for 2006, especially the addition of the roof wing. Plus the new front end looks too busy to me but thats just my opinion. I'm sticking with my 05.

One of the downsides of owning the STi is the rear wing to be fair. Major negative attention magnet. Every cop gives you the evil eye, every kid in his SRT4 thinks he can beat you, every ricer in his Civic/Redline/SS/Mustang wants to race you??? Even the M3/S4 drivers feel threatened by you (which they should).

Not the type of attention I seek considering I'm a 30 y.o. professional. It gets real tiring. The only people who respect the car are fellow Scooby drivers and Evo drivers.

maybe i'll like the next generation

i duno the last 3 are on the same chassis, why the need for 2 facelifts

 

The GC8 was a classic.

 

That is my favourite to. As for the wing, it is the same (ish) and the rally car it is based on, which as a rally rep it should have...

I'm with Quattro on this one. The scooby is not designed to be classy and plush. If you want classy and plush you go buy an audi, or a BMW. The scoby is about going fast. Thats it. Thats what its designed to do. They've tried to give it a bit of a style with the new one, and I personally think it is a big improvment on the old bugeye version, but it is still no supermodel. But then again, its not meant to be!!! The people that buy scoobies tend not to be interested in cars that lok good, they tend to be more interested in trying to be as much like McRae, or Solberg as possible! (j/k)

Didn't they sell the coupe design to another manufacturer? One of the little ones. Kia, or Proton or someone???
