ADD
ADD is not a true disease. it seems like everyone has ADD these days, i know entire families on drugs like Straterra and Adderall. Children are taking numerous pills a day because their parents have conformed to the idea that a child who is not always 100% completely focused has a disease. It may be possible that in RARE cases people experience a severe lack of focus, possibly related to something other than ADD. It is ridiculous that any parent can go to their paper happy doctor and get drugs for their child under very loose circumstances.

...now, instead of being a walking zombie, he's a normal, functioning young adult...it's good to see that other people are with me on this idea, because it seems like everyone i talk to thinks they "have ADD"...i call it, being a kid.
You ever notice how the people who tout ADD the loudest are people you wouldn't rilly want to pay ATTENTION to, in the first place? The "so-called" adults. Talking heads with lots to say but nuthin worth listenin to. All noise, no substance. Personally, my AOADD always kicks in when some bastich schedules a meeting for 4pm on a Friday... Glad I've got my trusty palm (PILOT!!!, get your minds outta tha gutter...).
i know its real but i think maybe only 1 in 15 ppl that take meds for it have it. I have a friend that has ADHD and he actually cant stop moving for a second. Although i know a ton of kids that "have" ADD and i think its bull.
Speaking of Ritalin.
If you don't have ADD, what a drug.
We use to take it for college finals and tests and that stuff really works. Me and my friends would study for hours straight, then ace the exams. I have copies of notes from class when I was on ritalin and they are pages long and detailed like no other. The downside of it is that if you got distracted; talking, drinking, watching tv, you were pretty much worthless for a few hours. It helps you focus but it's hard to regain focus on something else once you're concentrating.
I can see how it would work for someone with add though, I can also see the major pitfalls of using it.

lol, it's cool, it's not your fault...it just gets me heated because back when i was about 14 years old, i had to dedicate a good chunk of my life to try to keep my little brother OFF of ritalin (his teacher started the idea, then it spread to our school nurse, my dad, a couple doctors, and a few other relatives)...all of them wanted to put him on that f$#kin drug, and i had to do everything i could to keep him off it...BUT, the good news is, i succeeded.

I've been devoting quite a bit of time doing the same for friends. I've only managed one sucess, but at least I helped one of my friends lead a normal life. I think our society is over drugged as it is. If ADD were as real and widespread as it is touted to be, how have we come so far without it?

)...i hate how oblivious everyone is to the damage that all these prescription drugs cause, and even aspirin for that matter...people think, "it's medicine, a doctor told me to take it, it must be good for me!"...by the time they're 60, they have to take 10+ pills every morning just to stay healthy...
Totally agree that we over medicate and are looking for the silver bullet drug to fix our problems...but I also have seen success with drug therapy for friends and family members....Just because something is over diagnosed and a drug is over perscribed as some type of panacia, I don't think it is correct to ride the penduluem all the way back to the other side and say the condition does not exist or that the drug can not help.
