chalking tires is sooper-simple. Either mark two or more tires at 6-o'clock position (you do know that that means, right?), since it would be mathamatically improbable for the vehicle to move and return with BOTH tires in EXACTLY teh same position. OR, marktwo or moreaccording to what time it is when you mark them, again, using teh clock-method. Same reason as before. Mark them on the passenger side, since almost NO ONE checks the passenger-side before getting in and driving off, unless they're approaching from teh passenger side in the first place.
6 o'clock civilian or military time?

I sort of failed to explain the real reason for my Q. I am not so much concerned about knowing whether it moves as much as I amhaving this personfeel that if he continues to leave his car around (in this certain place which is in our business area) it might get towed.

I heard there are numbers put on the pavement for this. Iwould expect chalked tiresto look A-1 Official by-the-book.And, I WOULD like him to notce.
No numbers and no real trick to it, all itconsists ofis drawing a line from the tire to the pavement. Come on now you've seen the people who work just parking enforcement, do you really think they could handle some complex mathmatical theory regarding parking violators? The best way to get the point across is to get an abandoned vehicle warning notice from somewhere and stick it on his driver side window. Dont ask me where cuz I don't know, but you can always leave your own note.
One time, back in Germany, a drunk buddy of mine told of how he and some friends went around down by the Hauptwache, in Frankfurt, and addedd chalk marks all-around the tires of cars that had been marked by der Poleizi. I wonder what they did when they came back around and saw dozens of chalk marks on each and every car?

Hey, sorry if you've answered this already, i've only read 3 pages or so. What gun options do you have? I noticed in the off topic gun thread that you had a 223 and a glock. Say you had another gun that you wanted to use on duty is that possible? What are your options? Do guns used on duty have to be issued by the station? Just curious

Varies by department. NYPD lets you choose your weapon, my department does not. We also have shotguns as an option. Even for off duty carry we have a list which we have to choose from. If we purchase an off duty weapon we have to qualify with those as well, just as often as we do with our on duty weapon. This is for patrol, SWAT gets all the cool weapons. On duty weapons are issued by the department and range staff.

So this might have been answered earlier but im too lazy to read it all. Actually I have two questions. 1. Are police officers required to give out a certain amount of tickets per month. I ask this because at the end of the month I see a lot more cop cars at the end of the month. Almost like trying to catch up and give out tickets when they haven't given enough tickets. 2. Do any police departments pay attention to say a youtube video of kids smoking pot. Like does any one ever get busted for posting a video of doing something illegal?

I saw 12 NJ Troopers on the turnpike Saturday on the northern half of the turnpike (drove from Trenton to NY). All with someone pulled over. I might see 3 total on the southern half of the state.

1. Depends on the department, my department does NOT havea quota. Many state departments DO have quotas. Officers who switch to strictly traffic details have quotas as well. It's the patrol officer's who generally do not have quotas because we are busy responding to calls, especially where I work.

2. Something like that we arent going to assign detectives to determine who a bunch of e thugs are smoking pot. Has anyone ever been busted for posting something illegal online? I am sure they have, but I dont know any particular incidents. I would imagine it would have to be a video of a pretty serious crime for a department to even bother.

About 5 years on patrol, a good record, and some serious serious physical training. I just started getting back in shape because SWAT is something I am seriously considering, they definately DEFINATELY, get the best toys on the department. Armored personnel carriers, helicopters, automatic weapons, grenades...yes sir.

Yeah troopers generally = traffic around here. Some places in the states they actually respond to calls because the towns don't have their own departments.
