Sorry if this is a newbie question, but have seen a reference for that on forums.. And it usually refers to Audi's Tiptronics, but can it refer to anything that is semi-automatic?

I think different manufacturers have different ways or names for their semi-automatic transmissions but people should be able to understand the meaning of tiptronic so I would say yes.

 

Thanks! I guess usually when people on forums use the term chicktronics,
it's just any semi-automatic shift, even the ones that are on Jags, and
other cars... although one can prolly say the Maseratis with the paddleshifters
can be considered that also, even though that's more based on what F1...
