First car Audi 90 20V (200000+miles)
First of all, great job with this forum, I am glad this is here. I was not sure to where to post this topic so I am posting it here in off topic hoping one of the moderators puts it in the right place (not sure). Well anyway I would like to start off my history with audi's. My dad first got me into them when I was born, we had a red audi ?100? or 90? then he bought a White audi A4 avant (sport package) and then then stopped production in america. When that was in an accedent he bought a red A4. Now it is my time to buy a car and I am wondering what I should do. I have been in this predicament for a long time, I was looking at a 2004 red R32 for $4,400 we did more research finding out we were being scamed by people. So I have gone back to the drawing board and staying in my state to look for cars, which lead me to this car. http://hunt4cars.com/cars4sale/91_au...1_audi_90.html
I was hoping for some insight on this before I buy, my dad says it is a clean car with a good title but the only thing we do not like is the odometer (217525 miles) THey say that the engine has been rebuilt, not sure.
So thank you for looking at this thread and hopefully I can get some answers, or advice.

Classic! But not worth anywhere near $5k. $2500 would be the max for me if i had to have a a 90. As an example, I recently paid $1700 for my 97 a4 1.8T w/170k and in pretty decent shape. There are plenty more better deals out there.

Very sorry about that, I should have stated. The car is priced at $2900 a month ago. Went to the dealer and they said they will be willing to negotiate. I can almost bet they will bring it down to $2000 if that. The car has been sitting on the lot for quite some time now, so we shall see how the cards are played. The car had some minor problems, the leather is cracking, just minor things. So I am getting from you all that this is a good car to go with. Should I be worried about the high miles though.

Tell the dealer you'll give them $1500, because if that was a trade in, they probably only gave the previous owner $500-$1000 credit for it. If the car has been on the lot for that long, and considering these economic times, I bet they'd go for it.

That is accually a really good idea! We told them yesturday to drop it off at my dad's friends porsche shop to check it out and we will see what they find. But yea it would not hurt and see what they say. I am sure that the car would need a lot of work, and making it look nice again.
