So I'm pretty sure I blew my motor mounts last night. I have a friend that has a 97 325ci both of our cars are pretty much stock. I have my 96 2.8 12v A4. So we been talking about racing for weeks. Last night we line up finally. 1st race I just lauch the SheIT (4500 or more) out of my car and win the race by almost a car length. So we race again just for fun this time I luanch at a more reasonable 3500rpms. But just dump the clutch like a bad habit. I get this god awful thud, thud, of the motor just jerkin back and forth. I keep my foot in her though and won but by a nose, but was starting to pull on him.

Then we go to the bar, and have a marry little time.

Now I'm pretty good, and on my way home not a huge drinker. And Sure enough an IS300 rolls up on me and acting all racey. DAMN bad motor mounts I couldn't race, I know he'll smoke me If I can't use the advantage of quattro. Stupid mounts.

Hey just out of curiousty, do you guys think I would have won or lost that race anyway????

 

I dunno about winning or looseing but sounds either like a motor mount or a SNUB mount if the 12v even has one of those i dont know i know the 1.8's do and they can make a big difference

 

Yep they have one, I don't know about the problem tho. I do know that you can get the RS4 mounts for the 2.8 As for the IS300, I think it would have walked you. I have basicly the same car without Quattro, and my moms GS300 will stomp me.

 

Get better mounts, audi are made for luxuray now so the manufacturer puts in soft mounts to reduce engine vibrations.

 

Stop racing in a 12v... haha

Seriously though, quattro or not, that IS300 would pwn you day in and day out.
