get a concealed weapons permit and a handgun that you can keep in the glove box or under your seat (I don't know how big the glove box is)
It's illegal to keep a gun in your glove box. Don't come on here and giveadvice that will land you in prison.

i didnt know that it was illegal but I thought that if you had a permit you could have it in your car, it just had to be hidden and not in plain sight. I can understand because of getting your registration out of the glove box when you get pulled over.

And do you really think that I would come on here to knowingly give people false information. I have better things to do with my time. Just because I'm new on here doesnt mean that you have to jump to conclusions.

Don't come on here and give advice that is based on location.

In PA, where I have My CCW permit, I can keep the gun anywhere in my car I damn well please, as long as I'm in the car. Once I leave the car, my gun goes with me, but when I'm in it, it is perfectly leagal no matter where it's stored.

CCW laws are state based. Look into your local laws before making blanket statements.

Wrong, federal law says glove boxes are no good. It doesn't count as a locked container since glove boxes are way to easy to break open. Same thing with trunks. If it were in a lock box inside the trunk or glove box, that's ok.

You're mistaken. It's legal in Texas to have a handgun in the glove-box (and I think you don't even need a concealed weapon permit!). Admittedly, Texas has looser restrictions on firearms than most states, but Texas can't be alone in that allowance. The locked container part that you mentioned makes sense when we're talking about storing a weapon, but can't be applicable to concealed weapons regulations (who carries a lock-box in their coat pocket?).

If the gun isn't on your person, it's being stored. A stored gun by federal law has to be locked and unloaded, and glove boxes are specifically disallowed. CCW laws do vary by state to state, but the federal laws don't change.

This is a perfect example of why we have requirements for front plates.

The gun in the glove compartment depends on so many things I won't even bother commenting.

not sure about the gun laws, but i always keep a mini bat in my car. it wont stop someone w/ a gun or anything, but people dont act as stupid when you walk out of your car w/ a metal bat in your hands. its funny though, in NY people will honk/flash lights/ scream/ flip you off, w/e but no one really gets out of the car like that, its too risky. even from talkin on here you can see, that even if the person drives a nice luxury car they can keep a heater under the seat. you never know. the best bet is just drop a gear and hope their sh!tty truck cant keep up.

Yeah it really is. I always hated that in Maine but I can see why it's required now...
