Default I got into an accident...advice?

Long story short it was my fault. I was going EastBound and the light was red about less than a second from changing to Green and I went ahead and took it.

The car I hit was going southbound.I hit the rear passenger door and took out there tire as well.

My car just needs a new bumper and grille. No mechanical damage. (not that i know of)

Police were right there (but did not see it) It was an accident I feel horrible. In the end we all drove our cars away and no ONE WAS HURT.

So....I have court April 1st 2:30pm. What do I do next? Call my insurance company? My deductible is so damn high that I am gonna pay for damage anyways.

Advice?
-Paul

Yeah to the black chick....but not to the COPS.

I got (1) ticket for
"Disobeying Solid Red Signal"

He officer said if she didn't show in court case is dropped. He told me worse case I pay 100$ ticket or driving school.

I think because I was very respectful to officers and the fact that she was black and ghetto didn't look to good.
(no pun intended)

Yes. Call your insurance. No need delaying that. Decide if you wanna file a claim, or not, before you do, though.

If they wanna pin you down for fault, tell them you hafta wait for your copy of the report to find that out. No need in making it easy for them to raise your rates prematurely.

If you're not sure about filing a claim, tell them uyou want to get an esitmate, first, before making that decision. Over/under your deductible, and all that.

Next time, offer to buy the other person a drink at the closest bar, BEFORE the police arrive!!! LoL!!!

So i am not "claiming" my damage...but what about the lady I hit?

If IL is a "no-fault" state (and, I think it is, but not 100% sure) she'll file a claim through her insurance, and the insurance companies will decide who reimburses who. Be prepared for your rates to climb, eventually...

Looks like no-fault coverage. the other party'll make a claim through her insurance. No need to worry too much about her. show up for your court date and hope the po-po doesn't.

Progressive is usually good about rates. I've been in 3 accidents 1 my fault and rates haven't changed! And no offence but for you to clip the rear quater like that you had to be more than just turning red. Unless she was approaching the like at 45+mph and busted threw just as it was green or she was watching the like and took of like a drag tree... The avg. person from dead stop to get threw the light is about 3 seconds...
