Ok so my b-day present to myself came today lol. It's an eBay adapter that connects an iPod or iPhone to the radio's cd changer port. Well I've got the kit installed and working but now I want to make a dock in place of the ash tray. Currently the wire is already running to that spot so all I need is to somehow make a dock in there that the cable can plug into and get to the phone one way or another. The cable in the kit has too large a connector for what I want. I'd like the phone to stand up on end in front of the AC and hold pretty well. Sorry if I'm being a little confusing here. But is there like a 6" extension I could buy and would have a small enough end to stand up in the space of the ash tray and leave about 1cm of support space? Any idea's?

 

Which kit did you get? Sounds interesting.

There was a DIY on here about a custom iPod dock inside the ashtray. It looks pretty clean IMO.
Let me search for it.

BTW - I think the DIY should be archived style (any admins reading this).

It's for an A3 but I think it could be done for the B5.

 

That's exactly how I want to do it but unfortunately that wont work since I have a sliding ash tray and the connector is as big as that one. However someone came up w/ this on AZ.
