Unhappy My Car Died :( Need New Battery

My car just died this morning and I talked to the guys at the local audi dealer here. They said the battery is $114 and labor will bring it up too $210. My first reaction was to just buy my own battery but the guy went on to say that whenever swapping batteries there is something with the throttle that needs to be reprogramed and the main computer needs to be reprogramed as well. Does this sound like car dealer BS or is it truthful?

I never had to reprogram anything when I replaced mine two summers ago.

One thing I can think of that will need re-programing is your headunit. It's not so much a re-program as it will just probably asks you for the code.

You should be able to locate the code somewhere with your manual (mine came attached to a brochure for the headunit/Symphony system).
If it is missing, then you would probably have to contact the dealer for it.

And $200 is a bit steep for just replacing battery in my opinion.

Good luck!

you don't really need to reprogram it. if you have DBW, you just let the car sit for 5 min with the key on but engine off. everything else is like kriptonik said.

yeah man they're talking about the throttle body idle angle. listen to hiwords.

buy your own battery and put it in. you don't need to really reprogram anything. they're bullshitting you.

don't go to a dealership to get anything done on your car. find a local vw/audi shop or a german car shop in your area and go to them instead.
