May have to wait and see if those C4S depreciate a bit before jumping on that.

I forgot to ask if all S4s have only the SD card for mp3s or if the changer can read burned cds as well.
Mine read burned cds.

The changer in my 2000 will read burned CD's.... won't read MP3's obviously, but it read burns. The SD card thing is sweet! I picked up a 2gb SD card for like 50 bucks, a Sandisk Ultra II or something to that effect... that holds many Mp3's, and you can swap them out for new ones quickly and easily. ... and the talk above about supercharging the C4S... sent me running for the kleenex.

Thanks for the info guys. Yeah, I meant MP3s on a disc. I think the SD card sounds like it would work for me too.

I can't remember how much the SC kit is for a 996, but I've got the price in a mag somewhere. You do a bunch of other mods too when you put it on. It is not a cheap transformation. It would kill just about anything on the road after it was done though.

Yeah I think with the money you'd save over buying a brand new porsche... getting a 996 C4S and supercharging it would be much more satisfying. Wow. I can't stop thinking about that. I've never really researched top end cars much, because they are unnattainable for me right now. But yes... give me 10 years when I'm finally done school, and I'll want to do something exactly like what we're talking about. :P

Yeah, getting out of school is key. I ran into a buddy of mine during lunch that has a 993Turbo and he said that when you take that engine up to 550hp+ that you start risking a lot after about 30k miles. This is the first I had heard that. You never know when you read about the super modded cars in mags about what happens later and how much the owner kept having to pour into it. My buddy isn't a master tech or anything, so I take it all with a grain of salt.

I'd like to see a followup story on some of the SC cars though - as well as ones with turbo mods.

Yeah but 30K miles... this would definatley be a 2nd or 3rd car, so it'd take some time to put that many miles on it. Just rebuild the motor ever 30K, while installing a new clutch and whatever else... haha, I guess if you can afford a car like that, spending 10K or so every 30K miles isn't horrible... the downtime would suck, but every other moment between would be incredible!

Just got a call from salesman at dealership. They just got a black/black RS4 in today "from corporate"(whatver the hell that means) that they didn't know they were going to get and it will be cleaned up by this afternoon. He thinks I should come and take a look at it. I do want to see it, but what I really want to do is drive it. Somehow I don't think that is going to happen.

Anyway, it's all messed up. I don't want to spend $74K on a car right now. If I did, I would have already bought an RS6 for around $64K and done some hot mods.

Ya man, $74 thou is alot to spend, esp on an Audi. If sales tax was at .05% it would be a few grand
under $80,000! (not to mention insurance.) The RS4 is hot, but in my humble opinion, way over priced.
LET THE FLAMING BEGIN hahaha!

Yeah, my tax would be around $6800. I do miss that about Oregon - no sales tax! It's too bad that Portland and Salem are both overrun with crazed commie revolutionary wannabees in the gov't that tax everything else to the hilt. [&:]

There is still a May Day Parade in Portland.
