RE: my Saturday
We had an oil spill in auto last week... this Honda bigot ricer wanna be tuner brought in his 2000 Civic Si for an oil change. The whole time he is a jerk about it, won't let anyone offer him help, because 'he knows what he is doing.'
When he finally finishes, he lowers his car back down from the lift and starts it up to let the oil circulate. He backs his car out and starts to take off until we run and stop him because he is leaving a trail of oil as well as a 3x3 foot puddle on the shop floor. We put a drain pan under his car, clean up his mess and push his car back in to see what the problem was. His superior knowledge of oil changing led him to believe it was good to cross thread the filter and ended up leaving about an inch from where it was supposed to be seated.
I'm still asking myself why I stopped him... I really wouldn't have felt bad for him.
The funny thing is that after 5 minutes of running the car didn't miss a beat. Oil light didn't go on, and it didn't overheat. Guess thats japanese cars for ya.
