Need some e-mail assitance
My buddy has an e-mail account at his new job (using outlook).
He is able to send e-mail to his co-workers w/ the same domain name...
But he cant send any outgoing e-mails to other addresses.
I have outlook as well, and he's able to read my e-mails, just not respond to them...
Other ppl at his job are able to send out e-mails, I wonder why he cant...
Does n-e 1 know if theres a setting / options that needs to be adjusted? or is it something
that there system admin. can only access?
Thnx -

Chance's are he is on a secure network which prevents people sending classified information out, its a company thing and in most cases there is nothing you can do to alter the setting and your manager can read all emails before you send them
if he can recieve your emails then he does have access to it....there might be something wrong with his SMTP email. Depends on how the company works with outlook and their email server. But I think it's something with his SMTP.

are able to send outside e-mails as well... Its a new account set up, so thats why Im
assuming theres something off w/ the way it was set up.
do u think there could be something wrong w/ the Pop3 client etc?
i don't think his company uses pop3. they probably have an exchange server and either didn't put an SMTP account to his email yet or set it up wrong. if you check his email addresses in his properties it should show what his SMTP is. if there's nothing there then they set it up wrong. if it's there, check his settings.
Also check to see if his ISP requires outgoing server authentications. Go to tool, then to accounts. Make sure it on the mail tab at the top of the email accounts screen, then go to properties on the right. When the next screen pops up go to the Servers tab at the top, in the servers tab at the bottom it will say, "Outgoing mail Server" and below that it will say Requires Authentication. Have him put a check in that box and see if that works.
P.S. I am not sure if this will cure his ailement, but I work as an Internet Support Specialist at PrairieWave Communications here in Sioux Falls and we require Outgoing Server Authentication. So give that a try and let me know if that works and I'll see if I can think of anything else that it could be
