so who has the lowdown on which console will be better between the XBOX 360 and the PS3? i could spend countless minutes looking it up myself, but then i realized thats what you guys are for.
my younger bro just did a huge report for a class on this. He said hands down on a hardware level the ps3 will destroy the 360. I am not using the word destroy loosely either, the 360 is a three core system where the ps3 will be at least a quad core. and every number the 360 has it will be at least doubled by the ps3. but on the other hand the 360 is offering the media center stuff which is insane. you will be able to wirelessly stream tv shows, music photos and dvd'd that are saved to your computer to any tv with a 360 hooked up to it. my 360 is already on order and i will get the ps3 when it comes out. the 360 is also a upconverting dvd player which means it makes dvd's that are 480p into 720p. A dvd player that does this alone is 300 bucks. But on the other hand the ps3 will have a blu-ray player which is what will be replacing dvd's, or the next generation. well thats my 2 cents anyway

Oh, I bet it doesn't hold a candle to my Intellivision vs. Coleco report. [8D]

Or my "The games I played instead of doing actual homework" report. That was an oral presentation.

Thats interesting because most of the reports I have been seeing is that the PS3 will only exceed in the floating point renderer. Im not as technically minded as some of my colleagues, but all my collegues say they will be about the same except for a few minor differences which will be the systems "niche." I just nodded my head... going into one ear and out the other.

I did, however, get a chance to sample the 360. The GUI is funkin sick. At any time, during gameplay, the user can bring up the dash board... WHILE PLAYING THE GAME, thats really dope. It is being touted as a media center... but, for me at least, its nothing different from what I already have with my XBOX. The nicest thing, apart from the GUI, is the controller. It is, in other words, PERFECT. It feels natural. Its like the DUKE and the S controller mated...

Aside from that... getting an XBOX 360 now is just not worth it. Granted, some of the deals have you saving money (like $20) but you could save even more by not buying the system. There is nothing good in the beginning line up. PGR3 is the only one I am interested in seeing, but just for a little bit. Think of it this way, the games coming out now are only using one processor; of course they look pretty good since its a massive orgy of normal maps, but the games later on down the line are going to be insane.. or at least thats what I hope.

As for the modding of the 360, I am interested to see what happens. Aparently, each 360 will be unique in its encryption... which means a special mod chip for each one. Just rumors though...

Just played the demo for Call of Duty 2 on 360.......wow!
The most intense, realistic, exciting warfare from a videogame so far. Simply amazing, and this is just the 1st gen stuff coming out.

I was going to hold off for a while but after seeing this I put down my deposit and I am picking up the premium pack on the 22nd.

I have a friend who does voice work for Bungie, and he promises me that there will be nothing on the level of Halo 3 when it arrives next year. From any developer, or any console. He said Bungie are working on it as if they are developing a 200 million dollar motion picture. (which I think Peter Jackson just signed on to do?)

I also saw some GT5 footage for the ps3, it looked pretty freakin' great. Forza 2, even better.

I was going to play the Gotham racing game on a 360 last night, but the instore unit had overheated and needed to cool down....again...as the guy that worked there told me. That doesn't sound very good. Before it overheated, I saaw a guy playing a Tiger Woods game. It looked cool, but nothing amazing graphics wise.

On a brighter note, check out this 4G hd for the PSP - http://www.lik-sang.com/news.php?artc=3707

I got two xbox 360s, because the store didnt have memory cards, so I wanted to play CofD and NFS over the holiday but didnt wanna loose my game, but anyways.

The on I plugged into my normal TV that only supports 480i (blah) and the other I used the high def cables and plugged into my dell 24" LCD, and turned it all the way up on 720 progressive scan

Wow. *******. wow.

Then again the last console I really played was NES... so this is quite an upgrade.
