I would never drive without one. I have a V-1 but saw sometesting where the Passport 8500 killed the V-1 in the POP3 detection.

I think I would get an 8500 next time.

My V-1 has saved me so many times its not funny. I have gotten 1 ticket in the last 5 years and that was because it was a speed trap in the middle of no where. They were using a plane and I did not see it. Its a good thing they were only set up on my way home. I got popped for a 72 in a 50. If they were set up at 6 in the morning when I was heading the other way on the same road they would have gotten me for 125!!

I do not drive crazy 90% of the time I am in my car. I usually only speed in the Interstate Hwy. I like to cruise in the 80-100 range on road trips. Around town I try to keep it in the the 10 over or less area. That tends not to attract attention.

I am actually considering a radar / laser jammer for my MINI Cooper and then possibly the A-6 too. I am tired of the BS with these Laser guns.

I initially bought my MINI as an S model then decided to have the Works kit added. That brought the HP up to 200. Then Works came out with an Intake, Injectors and ECU Flash now its at 210 HP. I raced a friend who has a 2002 Mustang GT from a red light. He got a 1.5 car lead off the line, then I started to walk him down as we shut it down at 110 MPH at that point I was at his door with my front bumper. I also destroyed a 330ci on the interstate in Miami one afternoon door to door at 60-70 MPH by the time I hit 130 he was over 10 cars back when I shut down and slowed back to double digits fast he did a fly by.

I just installed a full coil over suspension with 25 way adjustable shox, a thicker adjustable rear swaybar, and a full brake upgrade. I am ordering a LSD for it in a few weeks.

I love the car. It gets 30 MPG when I behave and 25-27 when I am driving spirited on the street. I am taking it to a open track session Saturday.

The car turns on a dime now with the new suspension. I never thought the factory suspension could be improved until I installed this Spax gear. Keep in mind I have a 460HP, 2500 lb RX-7 in the garage next to the MINI, the RX-7 has a full racing suspension and I race it in SoloII. (I whip up on Factory Five Cobras with it) I walk past the RX-7 and get into the MINI happily. (could the 12 MPG city in the RX-7 be a factor??) I just drove the RX-7 today then got into the MINI and the MINI handles every bit as good if not better than the RX-7.

Around town? The MINI is a hoot. On the highway? The A-6 wins. The MINI is good for road trips if its just 2 people and you can fold the rear seats down. Family of four? Audi hands down.

And to stay on topic this is why I have a Radar Detector and will have jamming very soon.

John Cooper Works kit includes:

Ported and Polished Head
Upgraded Supercharger
18% reduction Supercharger pulley
Colder Spark Plugs
Cat - Back Exhaust
Reflashed ECU
Larger injectors
Upgraded Air cleaner/Box

Stock CooperS = 163 HP
John Cooper Works package = 210HP

The only thing I "might" change after the warranty expires is the exhaust manifold and cat I am looking to put in a header and high flow cat but that is 25K miles oand/or 2 years from now. Right now I am concentrating on the handling. The LSD will make the biggest difference. The car has one wheel grab right now and it hinders the car a LOT.

ooh ok, i thought the works kit was everything but the s/c...it seems strange that they wouldn't put the lsd on there stock...especially on the s-model...that will def make a world of difference...

there was a cooper S special edition with 200 stock hp... is it basically a "works" then, or something different? I love the coopers -- they need one with AWD

The Special Addition MINI Cooper S is called the John Cooper Works. That is what I have. You basically buy a MINI Cooper S and then buy a "Works Kit" from the dealer. They install it and your 163 HP car is transformed into a 200HP car in 2003. In 2005 the cars come with an LSD and the HP is 175 with the works kit taking it to 210HP.

Unfortunatly this little option will set you back about 6 Grand. I felt it was worth it because I have a 210HP car with a factory warranty in place. A lot of people are tricking them out themselves and getting the same HP for 1/2 the price but have voided their warranties. I didn't buy a brand new car to void the warranty.

I ordered the new goodies from John Cooper Works and added the extra 10 hp to my car too.

My MINI is my Daily Driver and its a hoot. It makes going to work fun.

Yeah man, I hear you there. I love the mini's... and when I heard about the 200 hp one, I got to thinking about buying one.

AWD had a large part in my decision.
