so today i finally ecided to get up off my lazy **** and do my tire rotation and front brakes, befre i need new front tires and stop a bit better. so anyway i jack up the front of the car, and lay wood blocks under the frame and let the car rest on them, with the tires off the ground. i jack up the rear, and my old jack stands lock mechinism, broke,dunno how theyre were just fucked up. so i decided to use my altimas and my moms durang scissor jack to lift up and hold up the rear, well after i got all 4 ties off, and did the font brakes, id figure id tackle the rear sway bar links, replac them cause they were fucked, i went under the car to undo a bolt, crawled from underi when my friend said "dude yourr car is tipping" and then *SKA-*****!* one scissor jack broke, and the other fell on its side. the whole back of the car, was laying on he ground (note there are still no wheels on the car yet, the have yet to be rotated) well after jacking the car up again, saying **** it to the sway bar links, i poceeded to put the whees andtiresback on and call it a day, brake were tires, tires were otated, on of the studs replace, and early became a human meat ball in the process.

next time im putting wood blocks all around the car. (not small wood blocks, ones like this http://www.old-barn-wood.com/0887c040.jpg to reach from one frame rail to another)

 

i got a 2 ton jack and 6 jack stands from sears ftw

 

i need some,the ones ive been using where my dads since he had his fisrt car 35 years ago!

JP, Sears had a combo of jack and a pair of jackstands on sale for $29 in an ad in Thursday's Press and Sun. Or just PM or call me and bring the car over - you're welcome to use my jacks, stands, and impact/hand tools anytime.

Yeah I used one once, it was down right terrifying. I got a 3 ton floor jack and 2, 4 ton jack stands from Harbor Freight for like $40

 

^ I need to hit Harbor Freight soon. I got a 2 ton floor jack and jack stands from Wal-Mart. They do the trick. And as for the scissor jack thing me and my buddy actually watched my stock jack twist and collapse under my car once.

 

WTF are you doing lifting more than one wheel at a time with those things? Seriously, explain why you needed to lift more than one corner at a time... I am teh confused.

daym dude, you are lucky. i've had close calls with scissor jacks but never actually had my car fall off of them. also, i got my 1.5ton jack from wallyworld for 20 bux. pay wallyworld a visit and see what they have. hope your rear bumper isn't too messed up
