$18g's ?!?!? for that 2 seater???

I thought the whole concept was to produce a super economical car?? how is $18,000 economical? You can buy a KIA Rio for around $9,000 and it seats 4!!!

LOL!! The only Renault I ever had was a ’59 “Dauphine†(looked sorta like a jelly bean)[:'(]Me and my buddy bought it when we were both 14 for 50 bucks with a bunch of money we made from shoveling snow. We used to keep it stashed in the woods out behind my house and go cow trailing to get it on the county road. We drove that thing all over town and never got busted. I was pretty tall, but my bud George used to have to sit on phone books to look legal (and see). The metal wasn’t real thick on that thing and one time we rolled it in the church parking lot doing donuts.[8D] It landed back up on it’s tires, but you could always see two dents (bulges) in the roof where our heads were when it rolled.[:@]
The windshield popped out when it rolled, and we could never get it back in and stick. It finally came flying off at about 50 mph. After that, we bought goggles and coats at the Army surplus store and drovearound without it.
The engine finally seized on the thing and we left it in the woods.
Probably still there…
Well, that's 3000 miles from here and a few lifetimes ago, but you never know..
I'd hate to get back there and find condos on that nice stretch of woods.[:@]

I t could happen. That stretch of land belonged to the county and was a greenbelt between a school and a river. It really wasn’t prime for development. I am planning to go back there in the spring and visit some family. Maybe I’ll drive over to that area and take a look.
I pulled a snapping turtle that was a big as a garbage can lid out of a pond back in there. They live like 80 years. Maybe he’s still there too…[:-]

No, it's not available in the US
You sure about that? I've seen a couple of them cruising around South Beach as rolling ads for hotels, resturaunts, etc.

When I was back home in Holland about a year ago, I was told that Swatch (the watch company) has some kind of partnership in it. Don't take that as fact though

On another note... I think someone should "donk" it up in photoshop... then it'll be twice as useless

Swatch originally was the manufacturer - or designer...something like that, and MB bought the company. We saw them everywhere in Europe, and went to a dealership to check one out. They sold for the equivalent of about $15K here. They've been trying to import to the US but couldn't pass the high-speed lane change requirement, and I think they've widened the wheelbase to make it more stable. With that comes higher prices.

I've seen them here as well, but you can't just run down to the dealership and pick one up, I believe a company called Zap cars is importing them and doing gray-market conversions - at a price.

Zap Cars

After looking at the link, they might only be doing electric conversions...I didn't read it all.

The cars are cool. When I saw them you could take them into a dealership, and for about $700 have all the colored panels swapped out for a different color or pattern - the colored panels are plastic. and they have some with wild patterns on them. They also have a four-seat car and a roadster, that is way cool.
