What do you carry?
No, it's a federal law. Guns not under your direct control (i.e. being cleaned, carried or used) are to be unloaded and in a locked storage container. It's stupid because a loaded gun in your car is a prime target for anyone looking, or anyone who just happens to break into your car for ***** and giggles. If someone steals your gun, you're just as responsible for it's use as if you were to use it yourself, and your trunk doesn't count as a locked container.
Just keep the clip in your pocket and make shure the chamber is empty! If the clip is in the gun and loaded you get charged for 1 count for every round in the clip! I keep the clip in my pocket and the gun locked in the glove box.
stupid and illegal to have a loaded gun in my car?
i have a concealed carry permit...so your telling me that i can legally carry a handgun into walmart, and even MY BANK, but my permit isnt good in my car?
not the most intelligent thing to do, to have it loaded and just hanging out under the seat, bouncing around, but safely in the holster in the glovebox? thats not stupid.

Oh, no. I unholster my gun in my car and drop it into a mount right next to my seat for quick access (MA has a self-defense law in your car) but I never leave it there. A glove box doesn't count as a locked container and it's kind of stupid. But I never leave a gun in a car when I'm not in it. Even in the safest neighborhood, you might run into some punks who break into cars for the fun of it.
