Who teaches it in the area? I wouldn't mind checking that out too.

I took a few Shaolin Kung Fu classes several years ago, but nothing substantial. A few years ago I wanted to get back in to Kung Fu, but couldn't find anything in the area. I found a dojhang nearby, but I wasn't interested in Tae-Kwon-Do, so I started up with Judo and Jujitsu instead.

The sessions were both good and bad. There were several younger guys and a fewolder. A couple guys more my age weren't quite my size. I didn't like this variation, but it did teach me that not everyone is the same size, age, or smell (unlike some of the other guys, I smell fresh like potpurri when I train).

In the end, Judo is fun with its acrobatic tumbling and throws, but I don't know if I will take more training with it. My body/mind was a little too tense and I couldn't get into arelaxed frame of mindvery well. Throws take a lot of practice and it takes a lot of being thrown to learn even more about being the thrower, but also how to counter a lot of throws.

Jujitsu is the real deal. A lot of chokes and submissions, this is important for people if they intend on being successful on the ground. And since most fights end up on the ground at some point, learning a form that emphasizes ground fighting is a necessity.

Army USD = Mostly re-direction to evade and some decent pressure point training. A couple steps short of Aikido.

Army Combatives = Better than I expected; very jujitsu oriented with chokes and submissions

Muay Thai/Brazilian Jujitsu is arguably the best combination.
