Default Why does new quattro suck

ok not really but compared to the 5000cs quattro wagon i was about to buy (drove to michigan to test drive it in winter only to be said no by my dad) in deep snow it got out easy, in this weather i can hear my EDL going into overtime but i still get 4 wheel spin.

heres a vid that proves my point

That 5000 is a beast. LOL.

I've fared well with my '01 so far, but then again, I 've never had to plow out of a 3½ foot drift.

Depending on the tires both cars had I'm not sure how much you should trust that video. Also if they were trying to make the 5000 look better it wouldn't be very hard, just give it a little extra gas and u can get them to spin easy. I've never been in stuff that deep but I'm pretty sure my car would do better than that.

I think it may have been the tires/driver.

Well, the old cars had locking differentials, didn't they? I know we've got EDL or whatever... but I've nearly had an A4 stuck before. The two drivers side wheels had traction, while the two passenger side wheels were somewhat sunk in snow... they just spun.

just going by that vid, the first car sounded like the guy rev'ed up and dumped the clutch, nearly runing into the back of that truck. the second car seemed to just step on the gas, increasing pedal movement as the car slowed- getting him nowhere.

Center TorSen diff is a purely mechanicalopen differential, rear is electronically controlled locking differential; unlocks once you get above 15mph.

I think it was just the driving, like Cheese Eater said - he did it right when he launched the 5000 out of there, then with the A4 he just didn't manage his throttle properly.
