00' S4 test drive... LOVED it but a i getting a good deal!?!?!
Well i went this eve. to test drive a '00 S4 and i have to say i loved it!!!! Im kinda pissed cause i really didnt get to open it up much, i live right out side the city of pittsburgh and it was rush hour so you can imagine the traffic. Im no motorhead but from what i saw the car is coming with a Milltek sport exhaust (a lil quiter than my taste but better than being too loud i suppose) silver BBS mesh style wheels (18's) which i love, tinted windows and minimal wheel gap so im assuming the car is lowered. Im trading my04 1.8T with 67Kfor 14,500 and paying 14,000 for the car. All in all i ended up writing a check for 600 for the difference between the 2 cars. Its a 00 S46spMT all options -NAV w/ 75K miles. Good deal!?!?!?Either way im picking up the car tomorrow after work, needless to say i see a half-day in my future cause there is no way i can wait all day!!!! Any opinions on my deal are welcomed!!! Thanks
PS: heres my 04 a4 i was gonna post a pic of the new s4 but they have already taken the pic off the site so ill have to wait til tomorrow!!!

yeah that was my plan... but short of taking it to an audi dealer and trusting their answer, how else can i tell??? i want to get the timing belt changed if need be too
demand a receipt for the belt, and if they dont have it, take 1200 bucks off their asking price, or walk away. The belt is something that has to be done every 60K. Make sure the rear wheel bearings are good as well, that is another common problem it seems. I would definately take it to a garage and have it inspected.
Check for oil leaks on the back of the valve covers around the cam end capsas well.

I waited and waited... test drove about5 cars totaland blew off all of them for one reason or another, either the cars that had been wrecked, or certainly repainted, or cracked front bumpers, or every rim killed, orlooked like performance ragged and performance removed... all in all... finding the best looking car today out of all the cars I've seen, clean carfax, from a private seller that is willing to transfer the extended warranty... for $11,500.
The dealers around here are asking 17 to 21 grand. So, I think I did well...

well like i said i bought it from a NON-audi dealer... so im going to have to take it to the local audi dealer and just trust what they tell me. i'd rather replace something now than pay alot more down the road. but i love the car. as far as performance parts i dont see much besides exhaust (milltek) its lowered and BBS 18's. no air box mods, gauges or anything else obvious. im assuming anybody who would leave BBS wheels (damn good condition) w/ brand new pirelli tires on thier trade in would probley leave performance parts on as well!!
see if they will let you (or have the garage that does the inspection)take the cover off the ECU to see if it is chipped. Usually thats one of the first mods people do.
Are you taking it to Sewickley? They are a great dealership. They have been very honest with me and taken care of my cars very well. Aaron and Matt (service advisors) are great guys. Larry the service manager is a good guy too. When they did a bunch of work on my TT he gave me a discount rate on the labor. Saved me$320
nice yea sewickly thats where ill be taking it... i picked up the car yesterday and i love it!!!! im thinking i need to change the breakpads also thanks for all the help guys!!!
