im looking at buying a 01 audi s4... its an automatic and the seller tells me the car will not shift out of park.. he said he started it, put it in gear, drove it forwards, it stalled, and when he went to start the car again it ran but will not come out of park.. he says the driving lights do not come on and the car has been sitting for 4-5 months.. anyone know what could be the problem of why this car wont come out of park? i dont want to get caught up in a car thats gonna cost me more to fix then i pay for it.. any help would be greatly appreciated..

Look at "The safety neutral switch connector" under the car,it may be wet and have debris in the connection. You also may want to look at the Transmission control module,TCM for short. it may have gotten wet or has corrosion on the connector contacts. This computer is located under the passenger side floor panel.
