Hey gies again, another issue i'm having with my car is whenever i go past third gear into higer speeds and higher gears i notice this wieird whining noise when i push the gas only it goes away when i let off gas. When i push gas lightly it is a deeper humm then harder i push more like a sharper whine. I do not think its the turbos because i can push them hard 1st-3rd but after that it just gets kind of annoying. It kind of sounds like a semi or something, it actually reminds me of my mothers mercedes Ml320 at higher speeds it does the same thing just not as bad as the s4. Anyone know what it can be? Thanks a lot and i really appreciate the help. Oh yeah the car does have 140,000miles on it if that was needed.

 

Something to do with driveshafts or CV joints? Idk, I'm stumped. Wish I could help you out.

 

Could be the fuel pump.

A friend of mine has an STI with a Wahlboro (spl?) 255. Same deal though; every time he went into higher speeds it would whine quite loudly. And, likewise, it would vary depending on acceleration.

 

im likin this fuel pump theory. i cant think of anything that it might be but that kinda sounds logical. tho i cant think why it would only do that in the higher gears, you think you could maybe post a sound clip or video or somethin?

Hey gies, Yah Ill try to post a video soon but i gotta get ahold of a video camera first my iphone doesn't have one but when i do ill be sure to post it. Anyway the sound sounds like its coming from the engine bay area or front, fuel pump is in the back and you know it does get me thinking a little about the fuel pump because i do sometimes have trouble starting the car after its hot and when the weather is hot out. No check engine light though but i will try to get a detailed video or recording or something soon. Thanks for all the replies by the way.
