2000 S4 Front end Noise
Having a lot of noise coming from the front end passenger side. its consistent with speed, and is very loud, its not the CV joint, as that was just replaced yesterday, I am thinking that it is possibly the rotor shield rubbing the rotor on the inside, but I am unable to take the caliper off because the caliper bolts (18mm) are immpossible to get off. any suggestions? any thoughts?
There had my not that hard. Im a little guy and was able to break them loose after 50000 miles, just put a little elbow grease and the longest breaker bar you can fit in there and it will come. But if its the shield you shouldnt have to remove the caliper to inspect it. If its a rumbling sound it could be a wheel bearing.
hit the bolts with some pb blaster and let it sit for 20 minutes and try again. i just changed my cv joint the other day and got the calipers off. make sure you turn the bolts the correct way too cuz i may or may not have been tightening them thinking i was loosening them
