Smile crunch noise from front suspension 2000 B5

Hey guys I have 2000 B5 6 speed which has a strange crunchy noise coming from what sounds like the either the strut towers or where the dash board is mounted to the firewall. This noise only occurs when you are going over like a speed bump or from a high driveway lip or something of that nature. Whenever the front suspension travels from high compression to high extension. The car still otherwise rides and handles superbly. I am not a newbee and have recently replaced all wheel bearings, rotors, and pads and had a look while everything was apart but did not find anything out of the ordinary. I do not have any type of strut tower bracing or aftermarket suspension modifications. I just wondered if there was anything commom you guys have experienced like bushings, strut mounts, or it is indeed torsion to the entire unibody structure. I drive the car pretty spirited but not crazy like when i was younger. Please let me know your thoughts and experiences. Thanks Vic.
