Default 2000 S4 timing belt change trouble!

I was changing the timing belt, and with the crank shaft at tdc and the cam gears where they're supposed to be, I was putting the belt on. To make sure the passenger side cam gear was on the right tooth I rotated it by it's bolt to the right a little bit, the spring action took over and the wing rotated about 1/6 of a turn to the right, when I went to bring it back it did the same to the left, I got the timing belt on now and everything is lined up fine; I just need to know it I messed up and valves when the cam shaft spun like that!

The car's going back together tomorrow either way, I just want to know what you guys think to ease my mind!

where the holes level with each other when you put it on?
one sixth of the rotation should be fine.

you should have done an entire rotation to get it back lined up.

The car's all back together now and runs fine, didn't cause any trouble, I was just worried that when the cam gear turned it may have smashed some valves into which ever piston was at the top..

Thanks for the reply
