Default 2000 a6 4.2 timing belt change question

Well, I'll be officially joining the Audi family as of this Friday when I go to pick up my new (to me) A6. Needless to say, I'm extremely anxious and excited for Friday to get here. I think I'm going to go ahead and change the timing belt/water pump/thermostat/pulleys and all that jazz from the getgo just so that I don't have to worry about it. Anyways, my question is, does anyone know where I can find a writeup on how to do all of this? The car is a 2000 and has the 4.2 in it, and so far I haven't been able to find anything.
Thanks for the anticipated help,
Mike

timing belts and the 60k service are a huge undertaking. they are possible to do by you self. But I would suggest having a knowledgeable shop do it for you. As there are spical tools that you will need and if you make a mistake you can do dammage to your motor.

I don't have a lot of money but I payed a local performance shop to do it for me. In the end it was worth it due to the fact that they forund several things wrong that I would have never known about or spotted

now see, that's my only dilemma, there are no knowledgeable shops around here that would have any idea what they were doing. the closest place that i'd be able to take it would be detroit where vast is, but that's a 4 hour drive and definitely not worth it to me. i know that there are some special tools required, but all you have to really be careful with is making sure that everything stays perfectly lined up and everything is torqued perfectly, at least that's my understanding. anyways, i'd much rather do it myself it at all possible, plus i'm somewhat automotively talented as i work on all my other cars, so i don't think it would be too bad.
