2001.5 s4?
alright so i had just recieved an offer from a buddy of mine for a 2001.5 s4 with 50k miles and he only wants 5500 for it. the reason being because he is flat out broke and need to pay his mortgage. the problem is that it is an auto. i know he has babied it and it is completely stock. what im wondering is if i do get it i want to swap the tranny for a manual. ive searched for s4s everywhere and only seem to find them going for atleast 9k with atleast 90k miles on them. to me id rather get the auto and spend the difference in the swap. is it worth it?

anything to do with transmittions on the these things are expensive... i couldn't imagine how much it would cost to swap one for the other. either way... not worth the cost in my mind. you can always do aftermarket torque converter and valve body rebuilds, and chip programs which will make the car shift way faster and more positive than the stock set up... in my mind, quicker than the 6 speed. these car are fickel enough just with the stock compenents, your throwing a whole new bag of sh*t into the mix.

I have to agree with what they said.
It's just going to be too expensive and will probably be a big pain in the ***. I guess if you're doing it yourself it might be a little bit more affordable. But I still think it isn't worth it.
While $5500 for an S4 with 50k miles is a steal, at the end of the day, if you want a manual, buy a manual.
BTW, send me his info.
