Default 2001 S4

Is 97k miles to many miles to start out with on a 2001 S4?

I LOVE the interior.

ooohhh casablanca, hotness with alcantra...97 is high but you can get away with it. my clutch just **** the bed at 60k so it all depends on how it is driven...

however for 18k I think you could get a little lower milage.

not in this area, there is another with the same miles for 19k. I am tossing that around and the 2002 A4. I mean, I can alway get some of those seats and put em in later... I like the look of the A4, but the S4 is... well.. an S4.

IMO 18k is a ton to pay with those miles.

Absolutely.

I just paid $14,500 for a 2002 with 85k miles. Be patient and keep looking for a few weeks, you'll find a lower-mileage car for that same money, no problem.

That being said, if you can find a deal for a 80k or 90k car, I wouldn't worry about the mileage too much. The only thing that seems to go bad on these cars is the turbos if you do the fluid changes and the water pump / timing belt changes at the manufacturer-recommended intervals. I've been doing some research for a few months before I bought mine and have no worries taking it to 200k over the next several years...

Good luck!

I know a guy who is a buyer for a local high end dealer (used cars like Audi, Porsche, Ferrari, Lambo) things like that, so they are trusted, who said he would be willing to do a search for me, through auctions and all that stuff for whatever I want, now I have to decide if I want a 2001 S4 or 2002 or newer A4. I would like an S4 for the V6 and the bi turbo, along with the other upgrades, but I love the B6 style of the A4 line. I would love to get an 04 S4, but that just can't happen. So now I just have to decide B5 S4 or B6 A4. I could probably get them mid teens, because it would be at a dealer price, no mark up, but I would have to pay him some fees, but still most likely several K less than if I just bought from a dealer.

Bought my 2001 black on black 6 spd for 16k with 48k. i had it shipped up to NJ from FLA.for 500 bucks.
It took me a 2 month to find the right car. It came with a turbo timer and a catback. car is 9 out of 10 condition
No cold weather package though,it was born and raised in fla.Be patient it pays off.
PW

p.s
keep and eyes out for recent repairs.
new timing belt replacemnt can cost 1k
turbos replaced are can cost three time that,
keep that in mind.
higher mileage cars can be worth it.if they have a solid maintence history.
