[size=2]We have a 2001 S4 in the shop right now that does not shift into R-1-2, it simply will not go into any gear. My boss feels that the issue could be internal, but is not fully convinced. The problem is that these cars (as I am sure we all know) are such a pain in the *** to take apart, we would really like to be 100% before we go pulling the tranny. Does anyone or has anyone seen our encourtered this issue before? If anybody has any input or advice we would be thankful. We have looked through many sites and forums. Thank You for your help,

Sounds like a synchro. Cha Ching... 2001sforce is experienced on this 1.

It is not the sychro seeing that you cannot get into gear when the car is off. The synchro would only be an issue when the car is running.
