2001 s4 warm up catalytic convter replacement
hey,
so i understand that it is part of the downpipe.
i went into audi and they want $1000 for just one of the pipes. so ridiculous.
anyways i was just wondering really if i should get after market downpipes.
if i did what would i need to have the car running right? just some O2 simulators?

You have 2 stock DP's, both with baffles and 02's
Than down stream you have 2 more 02's
For cheap money you could purchase stainless dp's, downstream cats, Test pipes (if you want to run the car without DS cats), and a catback for 450 shipped from ssautochrome. There is alot of guys that knock this setup because the welds are not as good as AWE and fitment isnt quite as perfect. Its basically a AWE twin 2 exhaust knock off which includes the DP's and test pipes.
You could also punch your stock dp's (making them piggies) then buy CEL eliminators from Vast performance.
The catback is an easy install, but the dp's are a lot of work.

also... dp's dont seem like that much work... but I'll take ur word for it.
i've done a lot of work to this car by myself. im cool with my old high school auto's teacher so i have a good lift to work on it whenever i want. thats a plus. man this car is a bitch to work on though. **** i changed the spark plugs today and it was pretty ridiculous... had to take off the air box to get to the left side. had to take off the coolant res. to get to the other. hahaha. it wasnt horrible i guess, but still. did an oil change too. put some more Lucas in there hahaha.
