Default 2002 S4 ECU supercedes 2001 ECU?

I am chipping my ECU in my 2001 S4 (ECU ends in M) so I ordered an ECU from AUDI and they told me the M ecu was being superceded to the T ecu which I believe is the ECU for the 2002 S4's (manual).
So I shipped the 'T' ECU to APR and they chipped it and returned it. I intalled the ECU and started the car but the ECS and ABS lights remained on. I called APR and they said the ECU needs to be coded for my car.
So I shipped the ECU back to APR and I now await the return of my coded ECU.

My question is this:

Has anyone experienced this situation and/or can you confirm that the 'T' ECU supercedes the 'M' ECU version?

Yes, the 2002 S4's got a "T" ECU while the 2001.5's had an "M" box.

ok I wanted to update this since I just received my superceded 8D0 907 551 T (which now replaces the 8D0 907 551 M) ECU back with the proper coding from APR. I installed it this morning fresh off the UPS truck and all is well.
Thanks APR!!!
