Hey everyone,

I'm thinking about buying a 2004+ S4 in the very near future. I know it hasn't been out long, but I was wondering what kind of reliabiliity problems to look for. I've done a search, but most or all or all of the information pertains to the older model. What should I look for so I don't get burned!

There was a thread a while back, maybe in late march or early april. I can't remember all the details, but the jist of the matter is the early 2004 S4s had some issues. I think they may have to do with transmission or engine...but I can't remember the the details.

These problems were corrected, so the key is to look at the build date of the car. I think anything after like June of 04 is ok, anything before and you might have some issues.

I think there are some folks on this forum that have more info on this.

I have a 04 S4, build date Sept 04. I have 2800 miles and no problems.

I believe the build date is on a plate located inside the driver door jam...take a look.
