S4's are great, lots of power, just make sure to get a manual! 04 and 06 are two different cars, same engine though. We refer to the different generations of S4 by their chassis code. B6 was made from 03-05.5 and 05.5-08 is B7. The two are pretty similar and have the same engine so its really just a looks/ price thing once you stat checking em out youll decide what you like.

Both b6 and b7 are very relyable but not the greatest on fuel consumption. besides the basics they arent very modifiable (or at least cheaply) but that might not matter to you and shouldnt deter you.

CPO cars are nice, because you get a warranty but the dealerships arent always best, sometimes they like to screw you or charge you way to much. If your considering buying a car, check the carfax and bring it to a different mechanic to get it checked over make sure everythings inline.

nice, thanks for the helpful info. im quickly finding out that manual's are pretty hard to find. every single one i look at is automatic. i think i like the b6 better. it looks more like the a4 i have now. whats a reasonable price for an 04/05 b6 S4? im trying to get a pretty decent one for not much more than 26k. thanks again!

Default 04-05 S4s

Viper,

I am looking at 05 S4s and around here (Philadelphia PA area) one owner, 30-36000 miles, CPO, manual trans, go for about $28,000-$31,000. I see 04s and 05s with a bit more mileage, 40-45000 miles going for mid 20s.

Drove one for the first time yesterday - WOW, what a car!

Cars.com and automotive.com seem to have the most listings.

Hope this helps

I'm new here, and I just got an '04 S4 manual with 20k miles for about $27k.
I'd been looking for a car like this for months and finally found this low mileage one. Most of the ones I've seen had 35-50k+ miles. Be patient and you'll find the one you want.

I found it on cars.com at a local dealership.

I've been looking at an b5 S4 that's for sale by my house. I kind of worked out a deal with the owner by i haven't made the move. I love the car and It's in very good conditions but i was wondering if anyone can tell me what mileage per gallon are you getting with this car. I commute an average of 60 miles on a working day. I've read specs on this car that say they make about 17 mpg but i wanted to know if this is accurate.

I appreciate if someone could tell me. Thanks.

The computer in my car says i average above 20 mpg's so a little above 300 miles per tank (16 gallons 93 octane) which seems to be pretty accurate. Im APR stage 2 but dont usually cruise around with the remap turned on.

Its really all how you drive, with the 2.7t you can stay out of boost and get good mileage or you can get on the throttle all the time and get crappy mileage. Id say i have a happy medium, iv come close to 400 on a tank and have been below 150 mile on a tank so 300+ on average isnt bad.

The b6/b7 with the v8 wont be as good as the b5

i work at the dealership so of course, i picked up mine from there.
was a lease return... 05.5 with 17k on it.
i paid the extra 1800 and had it certified.
was a no brainer to have the 100k warranty.

i would suggest to anyone that they buy a warranty on their audi.
dollar for dollar its just common sense..
