Hey, I need some help finding my boyfriend's Christmas present. I'm looking for an A6 Navigation System that can be put in a B5 S4. If anyone can help I'd really appreciate it.

 

YOU WOULD BE BETTER OFF GOING TO A STORE AND PURCHASIGN AFTERMARKET NAVIGATION, I JUST PUT AND ALPINE IN DASH, FLIP UP, NAVIGATION, DVD PLAYER ALL IN ONE INSTALLED IN MY S4 FOR 1389.00 AT TWEETER.. BETTER THEN THE A6 MAPS AND ALSO ALOT BETTER OF A LOOK WITH THE FLIP-OUT SCREEN...HOPE HE GETS WHAT HE WANTS...

I'D BE ONE HAPPY *** BOYFRIEND TO GET THAT FOR X-MAS..

If he wants OEM, then aftermarket will not be what he wants.

There are a lot on eBay, but you have to make sure it's the A6 unit!
He will also need the wireing harness, can gateway, DVD map.

None of th aftermarket unit looks as sweet as RNS-E imo.

 

deff go oem. if its a b5 go with the earlier a6 navigations because it will be easier to install. check this out:

Any of the RNS-E nav units will work, but the A6 is easier to install, All will need a little trimming at the bottom. I installed one out of a A8 which needed trimming and the sides needed a little addition cut out of my factory symphony unit. I found the unit off E-bay for $430, NAVPARTS.com sold the install kit with harness, antenna adapter, GPS antenna, and the radio removal tools for $100, and NAVTEQ sells the newest DVDs. Some of the ones on ebay are for sale with the install kit and the DVD, probably the best way to go if you want it soon and cheap. Also the www.navplus.us forum has tons of sellers and they know everything about the nav. hope this helps.

 

Don't get a RNS-D from the A6, they MADE one for the B5, so you can get one that fits perfectly!
It's the RNS-E that we need the A6, since they never made it for the B5.

 

whats the difference between the a6 one vs another b5? don't most people who upgrade headunits take that kind and put it in their b5?

 

The A6 unit is NOT a perfect fit, it has gaps on the sides, and you need to trim off part of the bottom to make it fit in.
This is with both the RNS-D & E unit.

The D unit is the older CD based system, & the E is the newer DVD nav that is used in current cars.
The D unit just plugs in, with no adapters, since it was a stock unit.
