Default abs and brake pads

I've got a 2000 s4 that has the abs, brake light on. Audi told me I need a new abs module for $1200. module master will rebuild it for $160. which sounds great to me. But before I send it off for repair someone mentioned that my brake pads might be a little worn and could cause the problem. Any thoughts out there. Thanks

no.. if abs light is on i would think it has nothing to do with the pads but possibly sensors or the module.. but.. i mean.. hell. if you need pads.. change them and see what happens.. you apparently need them anyway..... =-)
