Alright you Californinians! I need some answers!
Hey everybody, I may or may not be moving to the San Diego/Temecula area this fall or later. I was just curious on some questions that I don't feel like searching all over the place for. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
1. What are your tint laws? i have 5% back and would like to know if you can do that on front side windows as well, here in Nodak we can only do 50% on front side windows.
2. We need a front license plate here but I haven't mounted it and won't if there is no law for it there. Do you need to display it there?
3. Will go stage 3 before the move cause I may not have access to my equipment and won't pay somebody to replace my turbos when they finaly do go. With that I may put 2.8 heads and intake cam on. Do you guysknow of any emissions problems I would have this way? 2.8 heads and cam or not? Here we don't check for that and no one really cares about it except for some.
4. Are there any theft problems in that area with these cars? I am very **** about those things and my paint job really can't be touched up or blended or just a panel painted, it would have to have a whole repaint and I would be the only one that would do it and I most likely won't have a place to do it.
5. I think I would really enjoy it there and I would definately want my beloved car with me so thanks for the feedback.
P.S. My wheels are going to be for sale real soon! So if anyone wants them shout me a pm.

1.You cant tint the front at all! backs as dark as you want!*
2.You need a front plate!*
3.Cali has some of the toughest emissions laws supposedly?
4.Theft is all about what city your in. I dont live in SD sorry!
*- Cops only pull you over if you doing other illegal things like speeding. Usually if they pull you over for say speeding they will give you just a tint fix it ticket and just a warning for speeding.

1.Actually ocadom is partly wrong on the tint. He's right about the tinting in the back but in the front, you can only do up to 50% visiblity. BUT if you live in a chill town like I do, you can do it to 35%. Most cops in california and in my area won't pull you over as long as they can see through the front windows. But if you do meet a jackass cop.. then you'll be issued the fix it ticket.
2. Yeah you need a front license plate
3. Emissions, im not so good on so you'll have to check around sorry
4. and about the theft, get lojack or guidepoint if it makes you feel better that your car wont get stolen

If I can go 50% on front then I will get it done right away, it isn't much more as the stockers are 28% light blocking already so I can only add 22%.
I don't think the emissions would be a problem but that is obviously a make or break deal. Is no one out there stage 3 in california?

well i dont have the time or the money to do a turbo on mine yet, but im sure there's someone in cali with it. but yeah if you keep it to 50% visiblitiy then you'll be fine. If you wanna push it then go 35%, i've been doing it for a year now and i've never been pulled off whenever i pass a cop
http://www.chp.ca.gov/html/streetlegal.htmlhere is the chp link to the actual laws in CA. Some cities may be different bu tthis is state laws. As far as emmisios goes it's a tuff state. i do know of a few counties where they are still smog exempt in CA. but there hard to get into. IMO lo jack is a waste of time and money. i would just keep your bling to a minimum and garage your car whenever you get the chance. Always keep it locked and and as safe as possible. Good Luck San Diego is a fun *** city.
random look into the s4 section...
Temecula is a pretty safe community, low theft since it is so far from the border. Plus it costs $$ to live in that area.
The cops won't bother you if you aren't being an idiot.
As far as emmisions go, if you can't pass in the SD county you could always drive up north to a rural county with looser smog requirments and get your certificate there. Or just hand the smog guy a few hunny's. Don't street race here, its not worth it. They cracked down so hard the reprocutions are not worth it, just go to the stadium and race the 1/8 mile. Just some fyi...

Thanks for the info! I have seen that Temecula is expensive but I would rather work a little harder and live in a nice area. I probably won't be moving till next spring or summer but before next christmas, Need to build up the savings account.
