Default APR bipipe trouble

so as i'm putting my car back together in pieces... i decide to put on the apr bipipe. the only problem is that when all is said and done, the fan is rubbing up against the driver side pipe. i'm wondering if: a) anyone else has encountered this problem and b) if it's ok for me to sand down the sides of that fan or not. thanks for the help

Yes, they all do that, you have to cut down the fan a bit, I just got in there with a sanding bit on m dremel.

Do you know if you have to sand it down for the A6 application as well?

Good to hear it's going back together semi-smooth. Didn't the bi-pipe rub before?

The APR bi-pipe doesn't require any modifications. The fan should NOT be touching the bipipe at all. Check your motor mounts and front snub mount to make sure the motor is correctly centered in the engine bay. There should be roughly 1/2" space between the fan and the bipipe.

I've installed many without ever having to modify the fan.

Since it's the engine driven fan that rubs I don't see how any of the engine mounts would change the distance between the fan & bi-pipe.

The fan is attached to the engine block the same as the bi-pipe. The only way to change this is to remove the engine fan, or space it out.

It's really only about 3mm that needs to be shaved off the end of the fan blades.

I Have the APR Bi-pipe and it dosen't rub the fan, you might want to check the little knots on the pipe, they might not be in the correct possition. The mounts would have no noticable difference. 3mm might be be the fans sitting still distance, but when its running it flexes back and fourth.

If your pipes knots are in correctly I suffest tightening the bolts that hold it down.
hope this helps.
