Im trying to make a decision about getting a chip.... I know theres the apr giac but im trying to go with MTM/Lehmann since i had it on my urs4.... what you guys think the best chip for the b5?

 

lol that question is soooooo hard to tell anyone. what are YOU looking for in your and to get out of it. If you want just more power but smooth like it is now get the MTM. if you want ***** out pin you to the seat neck wiping get giac or apr.

 

^^ i've heard apr is more conservative. u can find flashed/chipped ecu's in the classifieds.
seach for the different chips, there is plenty of info on here!

From what i seen at dyno results..... MTM was rated #1 with more HP and GIAC the last one. I want mostly the power on the car.....

 

put it this way who cause who has 2 more HP thenthe other jsut get what you what to get cause YOU want it. that is what i do even if everyone hates it i get it cause I want it and know what i am happy

Well, mostof the people that have alot of experience with the chips will statethat GIAC is the most aggressive of perhaps all of the chips on the market.The GIAC will usually offer the*most* peak power. The MTM is VERY close, usually within5-10 horsepower and10ft-lbs of torque.In fact,ALL of the chips are very close in power output, they just have their own unique feel. GIAC is more of anexplosive power sensation, while MTM is said to offer very close to the same amount of power as the GIAC, supposedlyit's just smoother, so the power delivery feels like a stock S4. No surges of power, or spikes. Very linear.

Ofcourse, take what I say with a grain of salt. I don't have experience with all of the chips, and I'm only basing my knowledge on what other people with some experience have stated.

Also, keep in mind that MTM isn't nearly as well known here in theUS as it is in Europe. That's most of the reason you don't really see asmany MTM chipped cars around as you do GIAC, and APR. Their distribution isn't quite as well developed, so they aren't as dominant in the market as the other chip makers.

 

I went with MTM first when i got my car got a great deal on it and was not wanting to much kick in the pants speed bursts. I then jsut as of late got a giac after riding in my friends car and wanted to get that. So now i have three ecu's my stock , my mtm, and my new giac with 93 and 100 on it. i wish giac had a mtm profile for everyday driving then go to race mode like a giac profile. so hope this hits your question audisnut.

 

Yeah thanks, my cousin has GIAC on his s4 and it is pretty aggresive compare to the mtm i had on my urs4, from what I see GIAC and APR here are more popular cause they keep advertising and stuff while Lehmann and MTM are more old school and one of the first ones and they still kick *** but not as much in u.s
