Default Audi S5

I just bough a 2011 S5 and am having some issues. For one, my breaks squeak. It seems to be random but only happens at slow speeds. I just took it to Audi and they said it's common. I said it's "embarrassing" is what it is. Here I am in a brand new 60K car and the breaks squeak. It's unacceptable in my opinion. It's not a low squeak, it's a turn your head squeak. They asked me to bring it back in and they'll resurface the pads. I've had the car for about a month and have had the Sirius radio not work (they had to replace the entire unit), the bluetooth not work on some occasions (MMI issue, maybe the phone) and now the breaks. I'm starting to kick myself that I bought an Audi. I had a 2006 Porsche Cayman S before and didn't have one single issue with the car, solid as a rock. Anyone else having issues? Are Audi's just known for little annoying issues? Seems that way.

welcome to the world of Audi ownership! when i first bought my 01.5 s4 i returned to the dealership within four days with the same brake issue. they told me it was normal and that they would resurface the pads. instead i just changed out my pads to some hawk hps pads and have never had the problem again.

That is the exact reason to start buying aftermarket parts. I would get as much as you can out of the dealer. If you pressure them in the slightest they should do whatever they can. i work as a lot attendant and see the things people get away with. Especially if you bought an s5 coupe. You will be considered a highly valued customer.

I have the same issue with my S5. The dealer said hit the brakes hard when alone on a road--at high speed--to clean them off. That worked for about 3 days.

On a different note, my car refuses to stop much less slow down in snow. I feel the ABS vibrate but that's it. I literally rolled through a red light today after the light turned red. Amazingly it stops better on ice than snow! Any thoughts?

i find the abs system sometimes is useless in snow on my car, i use tiptronic and **** down and let the quattro system and the engine slow the car down if abs seems to be acting odd.

i have been in a running s5 up on a hoist while the mechanics were looking for a whining noise coming from beneath and when the car was in gear (all four wheels off the ground) and i stepped on the brakes, the car's abs would not let a single tire stop.

This has worked well for me. But yeah, the dealer should fix these probems since you guys have new cars.

Default Breaks fixed

I'm happy to announce that Audi fixed my brakes. They said they've been having issues with the particular brake pads on my car. They changed them out and the squeaking went away for the most part. I would say I get a very slight squeak 1 out of 20 times, but it's very low sounding so I don't worry about it.

I've had the S5 for 3 months now. I feel like I have all the bugs worked out. My only complaint now is the amount of gas the car sucks down. I know it's a thirsty V8 but man does the car suck it down fast. I burn about a quarter tank just in one round trip to work. It's the price i pay for 354 hp and tons of torque. Still love it!

Default S5brakes

That's good to know. Did you teLl them anything specifically that got them to replace the pads--or just complain loudly? I've got my 15,000 service coming up and would love to fix this issue.

The gas is another issue. It's the price we pay for fun.

Default Brakes

I told them something had to be done besides resurfacing, which I felt wouldn't solve the issue. They researched the issue and found out that the pads I had were causing others problems for others.

S-5 convertible has been excellent except for MMI button that took me one year to get connected (using Vag Com).
