I have a tip and I love it. I think tip gets bashed way too much. I had a number of really good reasons for getting one:

A) I had a knee injury (left knee, clutch leg), a torn ACL, which still acts up occassionally
B) When I go on long roadtrips, I am risk averse. Consider, if you got in an accident, or became incapacitated, you might need someone to drive your S4. How many people can honestly drive stick? Not many these days, and even if you found one, would you trust them to drive it properly?

When I get my 2nd car, which will in all likelihood be an RS4, it will be stick, but it will not be my daily driver.

Tip is good. Using Sport mode you will feel the power of the car. Even Drive mode the car is sickeningly fast. It's all relative.

Obviously stick has all the obvious things going for it. It just depends on what you want and who you are.

Once in a while I wish I could mod my car. I can't find anyone who has modded their Tip with even a chip to tell me what results if any they got in terms of performance. But I'll have my RS4 soon enough to play around with that

 

You ACL acts up on you when driving manual???? I was able to drive my car 3 weeks post op, and it hasnt bothered me since. Its been almost 3 months now. Granted, i have been doing a **** load of physical therapy so that i can get back for lacrosse season in teh spring, but my graft has been strong, and without problems thus far with driving manual. (i had a complete tear of my ACL, a fully torn miniscus, and a partially torn 2nd miniscus)

 

I never had it operated on, it was too slight of a tear, and I have done a crappy job on phys therapy, with my work hours I just don't have the time. But I'm inspired by your story so I will have to go back and start working on the knee

 

haha ya, its a bitch, but worth it in the end! I never thought that at 16 id messu p my knee that bad, but lacrosse is a tough sport

 

Well I just turned 29 so its getting harder for me to deal with these issues. You'll be amazed at how the body ages by 29, and I'm otherwise in great shape.

Ironicaly I hurt my knee in a nearly fatal auto accident and didn't get in a car for 6 years following, until I fell in love with the S4 and regained my nerve.
